ABOUT ME // ARTIST'S BIO
Aileen Lopez is a Long Beach native that invigorates her love for Tattoo and Japanese culture when coming up with digital and traditional artwork. Utilizing the skills of tattoo design, that she earned during her tattoo apprenticeship in 2019, she creates emboldened yet neat line work in her drawings. While that line work is what actualizes the piece, she uses flat colors that are strengthened through the shading, while the subtle highlights bring together the flat colors to create intentional form and structure that completes the work. While many of the characters are taken from actual serialized works, she uses her style and adoration by tweaking the most striking parts of a character with cute aspects (like hearts or star twinkles for the eyes) which is a staple in her pieces. While she primarily creates drawings for commissions or personal use, she has been adding digital artwork into the mix of mediums.
The biggest hope for Aileen is to eventually transport these designs to not only be purchased as decorations but to also be permanently adorned on people's skin. Because her works are designs, these can also be conceptualized for merchandising and brandishing. It is from incorporating all of her knowledge, from tackling different mediums of artworks and styles that have helped her both strengthen and prepare for her prospective tattoo endeavors. As a conceptual anime artist, Aileen is both influenced by artists of anime/manga but also tattoo artists that specialize in neo-traditional artworks. It is this blend of traditional and recent trends and methods that help flourish her concepts to be strong designs that can be appreciated by newcomers and hardcore fans alike.
